Use an AI subscription you already have

Coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI and Qwen Code run on your computer and use the account you already have with them. Circuitry installs the one you pick, and then it is in the chip in the Ask box and in the chat's model picker on every device paired with that computer.

On the desktop app

  1. In the Ask box, open the chip (it says Auto until you pick something) and choose Set up AI…. In a chat, the model picker has Add an agent… for the same list.

  2. Pick the agent that matches what you have:

    • Claude Code: your Claude Pro or Max subscription, or an Anthropic API key.
    • Codex CLI: your ChatGPT Plus or Pro subscription.
    • Gemini CLI: a free allowance with a Google account, no card. Paid plans raise the limits.
    • Qwen Code: an Alibaba Cloud plan or any API key, including OpenRouter.
  3. Circuitry installs it, connects it to your documents, and opens it.

  4. Sign in the first time. The agent asks in its own window, and Circuitry tells you which option to choose:

    • Claude Code: log in with your claude.ai account in the browser.
    • Codex CLI: sign in with your ChatGPT account in the browser.
    • Gemini CLI: choose Login with Google. Don't enter an API key.
    • Qwen Code: choose the provider you have.

To finish a sign-in, press the terminal button in the chat header: it opens the agent in a terminal, still connected to your documents.

Once it is set up, the agent is listed in the Ask chip and the chat's model picker. Pick it there; Ask and the chat open on the AI you used last.

With an OpenRouter key

One key from openrouter.ai reaches models from many providers, including free models with daily limits. You pay OpenRouter, not Circuitry.

  1. Choose Set up AI…, then OpenRouter.
  2. Paste your key (openrouter.ai → Keys) and pick a model. Free models are listed first.

From your phone, tablet or a web browser

The agent runs on your computer; the device drives it.

  1. Install Circuit on the computer and pair the device. See Connect your phone or tablet to your computer.
  2. Agents installed on that computer are listed in the Ask chip and the chat's model picker. To add one, choose Set up AI…: it installs on the computer.
  3. Sign in once, the same way as above. The sign-in happens on the computer, so you do it once for all your devices.
