Draw, sketch and write by hand
Open a Whiteboard, Notepad or Designer document and draw with a finger, a mouse or Apple Pencil; drawing needs no AI and works on every device. AI is optional: it can make pictures for you and set up a sketched plan as a working workflow.
Sketch on a whiteboard or notepad
Any deviceFree
- From Create a document under the Ask box, open a Whiteboard (an endless canvas) or a Notepad (a page for typed and handwritten notes).
- Pick a pen from the pen tray: Pen, Pencil, Ballpoint, Marker or Highlighter. Eraser and Select are in the same tray.
- Use Shape to draw a rough rectangle, circle or diamond and have it turned into a clean one.
- Use Arrow to join things up.
Turn handwriting into text
Any deviceFree
- Pick the Write pen and write. When you pause, your handwriting turns into text you can edit.
- Handwriting is read on an iPad, an iPhone, and the desktop app on a Mac. Elsewhere, switch the Write pen to Type and type instead.
Turn a sketch into a diagram
Any deviceFree
- On a whiteboard, draw shapes with a written or typed label inside, and arrows between them. Each shape and its label move as one, and arrows follow when you move them.
- Select the sketch and press To Node. Each block becomes a real box and each arrow a connection, in one step you can undo.
Design with vector tools
Any deviceFree
- Designer gives you artboards, layers and vector tools for graphics, illustrations and screen designs.
- On iPad, Apple Pencil pressure and tilt shape the stroke.
- Export artboards as SVG, PNG, JPEG, WEBP or HTML with File → Export Artboards….
Let AI help
Any devicePaid plan
- Ask for a picture in the Ask box, for example "a watercolour lighthouse at dusk", and it is made for you.
- After To Node, a card offers Auto-configure, which sets up each step of the sketched plan so it can run.
